YouTube user and Call of Duty commentator Drift0r has claimed that through leaked information from a “legitimate source in the Call of Duty machine” the next installment in the massively popular Call of Duty franchise will be called ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts.’

According to Drift0r,  Ghosts will be leaving the Modern Warfare era and entering the future. But a major plot point will require the characters to use modern day weaponry.

Ghosts will feature “dynamic loading screens.” So instead of a bar running across the screen or a countdown to start a multiplayer match, players will sneak into the map or repel from a helicopter. Player movement has also changed and now players can dash and slide while shooting, peek around corners, and roll in prone. Ghosts is also said to have destructible and interactive environments in both single and multiplayer. Spec-Ops has also been abandoned and a new type of game mode will replace it.

Ghosts will allegedly only be released on next-gen consoles and PC. This information has not yet been confirmed by Activison. But it is reported that Ghosts’ official announcement will be near May 1st.

After rumors and marketing material leaked this week, Ubisoft has confirmed that the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Ubisoft confirmed the title by releasing the first official art as seen below.

This is the first official art for the new Assassin's Creed title.

Amazon.com has also released box art for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U. But no next-gen consoles have been announced. PS3 owners will be getting their own “Exclusive Edition” that will come with “60 minutes of exclusive gameplay.

This announcement confirms the rumors that the next entry into the series will take place on the open water and islands of the Caribbean as a new pirate-assassin protagonist. There has still been no confirmation on time period but more details will be released by Ubisoft on Monday, March 4th.

After years, months, and weeks of rumors and speculation, the PlayStation 4 is here and it came with a bang. The conference opened with the announcing of the system and it’s slated holiday 2013 release date. However, no image or physical console was shown at the conference. The announcement was followed up by the specs of the hardware that would be included under the hood in the PlayStation 4.

Lead system architect on the PlayStation 4, Mark Cerny, said that “the development of a next-gen platform started about five years ago” and the console definitely shows five years of work in it. Cerny said the PlayStation 4 is “like a PC, but supercharged.” The PS4 will be sporting an amazing 8-core AMD “Jaguar” x86-64 with integrated graphics APU, 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, which can mainly be found in the top-of-the-line graphic cards and “next-gen” AMD Radeon graphics processor capable of processing at 1.84 teraflops. Like the PS3, the Ps4 will ship with a Blu-ray drive, built-in 80.211 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, Analog-AV, and optical digital output.

To compliment the PS4, Sony unveiled the new DualShock 4 controller. Which still retains the basic layout from the DualShock 3 but now has a touch controlled pad similar to the rear touch pad of the PS Vita. The DualShock 4 feature is the share button on the controller. Once pressed, players can send a clip and screenshots from the game they are playing to friends, upload to Facebook, Ustream and the PlayStation Network. The new controller uses a 3D stereo camera to track the position of the controller. Along with all of these new features  there will also be a light bar that Cerny says is a “”more friendly way to identify players” and a headphone jack.

After the tech and hardware was over, the conference turned up the excitement and revealed 10 launch titles for the PS4 including the debut of the Unreal 4 engine. Popular titles like Killzone and Infamous are making their way onto the next platform with Killzone Shadow Fall and Infamous Second Son. But out of all the game two notable ones seem to take a direct aim at Microsoft. Drive Club, a next-gen racing simulator seems to be Sony’s new and improved Gran Turismo and will take on Forza Motorsport this next generation. Also, Bungie made an appearance at the conference to showcase their new game Destiny. Bungie and Microsoft severed their partnership back in 2007 and Bungie made that clear when they announced that PS4 players would be getting exclusive  DLC content for Destiny. A bit of a back hand to Microsoft. Other games like Watch Dogs, and brand new titles were demoed and announced as well.

But one of the most surprising announcements was from the ruler of the PC market, Blizzard. Blizzard announced that they would be starting their partnership with Sony and will be releasing Diablo III for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 3 later this year.

No official pricing has been set for the console, but rumors have indicated that gamers could see a $429.99 and $529.99 price tag. The next-generation of consoles has begun. Sony has fired the first shot and it will be interesting to see what Microsoft will be bringing to the table in the next coming months.

The CEO of Ubisoft,  Yves Guillemot, has stated the next Assassin’s Creed will have an “all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period.” Guillemot said the upcoming game was”another major leap forward for the franchise.

The game was also announced that it would be coming out in the fiscal year of 2014 around April and May. However, the new hero, location, developer, and whether the game will be on next-gen or current-gen platforms, was not announced. Rumors and speculation have suggested the next Assassin’s Creed title could take place anywhere from Brazil to east Asia, but nothing has been officially announced.

Rockstar announced that on September 17th, Grand Theft Auto V will be released for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. No information on a PC or Wii U title was given.

This date is farther than fans had hoped for due to the original release date that was set for Spring of this year. This is the first of Rockstar’s big titles to not release in Spring. Rockstar released a statement apologizing for the delay but it was needed because the game needed to be more polished.

The statement from Rockstar reads “We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require. To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”

Disney and Lucasfilm have officially announced that Jeffery Jacob “JJ” Abrams will be the director for the new installment of the Star Wars Saga. This decision has left many Star Wars fans with a sense of relief after Lucasfilms was sold to Disney last year for $4.05 billion.

George Lucas has reassured fans that Abrams is the director we are looking for.

“I’ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller.  He’s an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn’t be in better hands,” Lucas said.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Abrams was not planning on or interested in taking the helm of the next chapters of the Star Wars saga, but after some convincing and Jedi mind tricks from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, he jumped on board with nothing but gratitude.

“To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor,” Abrams said. “I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid.”

It was also announced that alongside Kennedy and Lucasfilm, Abrams and his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk will produce Star Wars: Episode VII.

On another note, rumors are still being spread with this announcement and rumblings around the web have stated that some actors may be reprising their role in the next film. These actors have been said to include Mark Hammil and Carrie Fisher, Luke and Leia.

Star Wars: Episode VII has been slotted for a 2015 release.

After Microsoft’s $8.5 million purchase of Skype back in 2011, Microsoft has been replacing many of their popular services like MSN, with Skype. Back in November, Microsoft stated it would be phasing out it’s messenger service, MSN, and replacing it with Skype chat. Due to recent comments from an unnamed source in an interview with the website CVG, It also appears that Skype will be making its way into the next Xbox console.

“A person more familiar with the matter” told CVG, that Microsoft will be “consolidating all their communications technology,” which includes the next generation of the Xbox console. More specifically, it would ”become the default chat service on the next generation Xbox console.” CVG was told that “you might jump to the conclusion that we’ll see asynchronous voice and video messages in next-gen Xbox Live.”

Also, A recent job listing has opened for a position at Microsoft’s UK-based Skype offices and the description reads “the team you’ll join is responsible for Skype in the living room (broadly the home), across various devices but with a focus on the large screen and the next generation of Xbox.” Microsoft has yet to officially confirm this integration of Skype into the next Xbox console.
